FedEx is pulling the plug on its robot delivery efforts carrying out a pilot program to check using robots rather of humans for last-mile delivery.
FedEx is among several companies that’s been investigating the potential of using robots for delivery. The organization was managing a pilot program along with DEKA Development and research Corp. Based on Robotics 24/7, the organization is ending this program.
“Although robotics and automation are key support beams in our innovation strategy, Roxo didn’t meet necessary near-term value needs for DRIVE,” Sriram Krishnasam, chief transformation officer, authored within an email to employees. “Although we’re ending the development and research efforts, Roxo offered an invaluable purpose: to quickly advance our understanding and employ of automatic technology.”
The organization confirmed this news to Robotics 24/7, saying it had been concentrating on “several nearer-term possibilities.”
